My name is Jack Read, i'm a web designer/developer based in Toronto, Canada. Welcome to my blog!

A few months ago, I read an article by matt mullenweg (the founder of wordpress) called "1.0 IS THE LONELIEST NUMBER". Its a great read, even for non-geeks, here's a quick quote...
Many entrepreneurs idolize Steve Jobs. He’s such a perfectionist, they say. Nothing leaves the doors of 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino without a polish and finish that makes geeks everywhere drool. No compromise!
I like Apple for the opposite reason: they’re not afraid of getting a rudimentary 1.0 out into the world.
Matt Mullenweg
To summarize the article, Matt Mullenweg states that it's really important to "just get something out there"... not to get bogged down into trying to make everything completely perfect straight away.
The article has inspired me recently to create and release a basic link-shortener/tracker called Link Bot.
I've been drowning in ideas recently and it's been wearing me down a little. For every idea there is so much to think about... there's the planning and deciding on features that will make your idea stand out, there's the months of work and finding the right people to help work on it, then there is figuring out how to launch it and getting people to use it etc. etc. You can see how if there are a lot of ideas that the shear quantity of things to think about could prevent you from even starting.
The whole point of Link Bot was I could do it on my own, start to finish, in one night (a very late night). Honestly, it's been amazing for me to just get something out there, even if no-one uses it. It's been a fun project and so good for my soul.
I think the principle applies to more than coding. No-matter how big the idea or project just find a way of taking a few baby steps... even if they are slightly un-related steps.
When you're stuck, all momentum is good momentum.

i'm glad you like it... actually this website is another linkbot for me. I did it just to accomplish something in the midst of a massive idea overload lol
